Day 14, 02072008, Los Angeles
There was no car and we didn't have any plans for today, so we decided to just stay at home.
The night before I called Mum to ask her for her recipe for chicken stew, and I decided that probably I can cook that for dinner! Wasn't very sure of myself as Mum would be around when I helped to make dinner back in Singapore.
What was supposed to be just for CY, DJ and I turned out that we were going to cook at Ivan's. Then I got more pressurized 'cos what if the stew turned out to be garbage and I have to stare into the hungry faces of four other people??? HAHA.
We went to the supermarket after school and bought potatoes (I could only get American ones), carrots, onions (the cashier took it as garlic -_-) and chicken. It was like USD 8 or 9 for half a chicken! However, as a member of the supermarket's club - Ralphs Club - we got a discount and the chicken cost us only USD 2+!!! HAHAHA. So happy.
Photos were from various photographers (I didn't have my camera with me =( ).
We also cooked Thai rice! Just like a home-cooked meal, seriously =D
That's John providing some music on the guitar.
Ivan peeled the potatoes and carrots, and cut up the chicken. Chui Ying and Dai Jing were in-charge of the rice, and in addition, DJ was a great help at giving opinions. HAHA.
Chicken stew coming into form! Just that it was super oily. We added chicken stock too.
As there were too much ingredients, half of the potatoes were placed aside and Ivan made pan-fried potato wedges out of them and boy they were good!
He cooked beansprouts + tofu too.
And we were done! Time for dinner! =D
Jessica came to join us but she had dinner already.
My oh my the stew (soup - because we had no tapioca flour to make it stewy) was good!! Like, really good! The carrots were cooked to perfection and the downside was the potatoes la. Not suitable for soup haha. Who cares. We got it!
The end! Ralphs sell good green tea with honey and ginseng. It complemented the soup really well, so refreshing.
DJ and Jessica doing the washing. DJ always does the washing.
Happy meal!
