Jazz and cheesecake

Went to Sunset to catch a free (that's all I can afford) jazz concert.

Here's lunch before we left. Mexican fish taco. Yum.

Took the Metro bus 20. We went up and wanted to slot our coins into the machine to find out that the machine's down!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

So we got ourselves a free trip!! HAHAHAHHAHA. USD 1.25 saved. I think we're quite lucky, considering this is not the first time we chanced upon a no-pay public transport in the U.S.

Traffic lights were down, here comes Mr. Traffic Police.

His uniform reminded me of the good ol' days in Singapore when policemen were in berms. (as if I was around at that time!)

El Camino Real.

The jazz concert is part of a Friday Night Jazz series organised by LACMA and this time the band performing was Grant Geissman Quintet.

Opening number

The woodwind player who can play many many types of woodwind instruments. He performed with the flute (which isn't really a jazz instrument), clarinet, soprano alto and tenor saxophones.

Guest player.

Bandleader Grant Geissman with his Gibson guitar. Sweet.

Geissman playing with the co-composers of Two And A Half Men. He composed some of the songs for that TV series.

There were about 16 pieces that the band played. The pianist was damn pro at his solo sections! Woah. You should see him.

Just that his solos sound pretty similar in terms of style.

This bassist is very good at his instrument!

End of concert. Some tunes were reaalllly nice!

The lampposts at LACMA against the darkening sky.

We then took 20 again, this time back tracking our route till we reached Beverly Hills. Ivan was supposed to help his friends get a birthday cake from Cheesecake Factory. And so we went along, to try the cakes there as well.

But the place was a bit too posh for our own good.

So we bought cake slices. Mine's a tiramisu.

For dinner we went back to Westwood for Burger King. -_-

All five cheesecakes.

Ivan got the Godiva 7-inch cake and O-M-G the box! I never got to see what's inside since it's not our cake. Hahaha.

But it sure does look heavenly =D
